The Sunshine Blogger Award!

Unknown

Many thanks to Storytellingcook over at Recipe in a Bottle who has kindly nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Head over to https://eating2016.wordpress.com to see what she’s doing with recipes! Yum.

I had to look up the rules for this Sunshine Blogger thing, being new to all this. It’s a bit like a chain letter from days gone by. I’ve enjoyed answering the questions I was sent and will add some of my own at the bottom for my nominees.

If you weren’t blogging, what would you be doing with your free time?   Honestly? Probably flopping on the sofa reading. What should I be doing? Taking a walk in the woods. If it weren’t a slight walk in itself to get there.

If you had the chance, would you move? Where to? I’ve got my eye on a new apartment being built down the street. Can’t decide if I want the second floor with the balcony or the ground floor with a bit of yard.

Best lesson in the kitchen? Vitamin E is good for burns.

Hardest recipe/dish you’ve ever made? A deceptively simple sounding Double Chocolate Bombe cake that must have taken at least 24 hours to put together. I kept the recipe as a trophy but will never make it again.

Best cook you personally know, and what makes them good? Mrs. H, the mother of my closest childhood friend. Everything she made from brownies to brisket was so delicious. She volunteered to host the rehearsal dinner for my wedding, and almost 25 years later my husband still talks about her baked brie.

When did you get into blogging, and why? I only started in April. My plan was 1) to give me a reason to practice writing and 2) to make me do something that is not work related.

What is your dream job? Being paid to write friendly letters. But wait. If I had to do it, I probably wouldn’t like it as much.

What is a challenge you’ve given yourself lately? Have you achieved it yet? So far, figuring out how to blog is my challenge. I am sort of technologically challenged. My husband would probably say excessively challenged, as in, still living in the early 20th century.

If you had to go back and study something totally different from anything you’ve ever studied, what would you choose? Biology. It is so fascinating.

My nominees are:

http://pineneedlepaths.wordpress.com – It’s always sunny there.

http://janeaustenletterwritingsociety.blogspot.be – Thanks to this site I now have a wonderful new pen pal. Pamela is organizing a new pen friend exchange. Make haste! Sign up! You’ll be glad you did.

http://mrsmurphysmailboxmagic.blogspot.be – Another lover of letter writing.

And these two that bring me sunshine through their great ideas for teaching:

http://www.ideasbyjivey.com Great ideas for elementary teachers. I am currently into Mentoring Sentences.

http://marilynburnsmathblog.com I’m so glad to have discovered she has a blog! This amazing Math teacher has such a fantastic way of approaching the subject, especially for a mathophobe like me.

My questions:

Who was your favorite elementary school teacher and why?

Do you have a book you like to re-read on a regular basis? Which one?

What was the best advice your parents gave you?

What is something you always have in your refrigerator?

Would you rather walk in the rain or slide in the snow?

Is it okay to read ahead in books? Yea or nay?
